Dalam pidatonya, Yeoh menceritakan bagaimana saat ia datang ke Hollywood.

“Saya ingat ketika saya pertama kali datang ke Hollywood, itu adalah mimpi yang menjadi kenyataan sampai saya datang ke sini… Seseorang berkata kepada saya: ‘Kamu berbicara bahasa Inggris?’ Dan kemudian saya berkata: ‘Ya, penerbangan di sini sekitar 13 jam, jadi saya belajar, ”katanya.

Dia juga mengungkapkan apresiasi atas peran yang membawanya memenangkan penghargaan.

“Seiring berjalannya waktu – saya berusia 60 tahun lalu – dan saya pikir Anda semua wanita memahami ini, seiring dengan hari, tahun, angka semakin besar, peluangnya juga semakin kecil. Kemudian datanglah hadiah terbaik: ‘Semuanya, Di Mana Saja Sekaligus,’” katanya.

Yeoh menemukan kesuksesan arus utama di Hollywood dalam film Ang Lee pemenang Oscar tahun 2000 “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon,” setelah sebelumnya membintangi film Jackie Chan termasuk “Supercop.”
